Methods: A comprehensive literature review methodology was employed. A variety of electronic databases were searched for the period Search terms incorporating nutrition, screening, validity, reliability and sensitivity and specificity were combined to retrieve relevant literature.
In addition, manual searches were conducted and articles retrieved from those listed in key papers. In this paper, nutritional screening or assessment tools are described as tools which use a questionnaire-type format containing more than one risk factor for malnutrition, and give a quantitative or categorical assessment of risk. Results: Seventy-one nutritional tools were located, 21 of which were identified as designated for use with an older population.
A wide variety of risk factors for malnutrition are used with the tools, ranging from objective measurements to subjective assessment. Some tools identify an action plan based on the score obtained. Conclusions: As malnutrition is present in the older adult population, nutritional assessment and screening tools can be useful to highlight those in need of a nutritional care plan.
The decision to use a particular tool should therefore be considered carefully. Abstract Aim: This paper reports a literature review to examine the range of published tools available for use by nurses to screen or assess nutritional status of older adults, and the extent to which validity, reliability, sensitivity, specificity and acceptability of the tools has been addressed.

Characteristics: The large variability is due to differences in level of dependence and health status among the elderly. In hospital settings, a low MNA score is associated with an increase in mortality, prolonged length of stay and greater likelihood of discharge to nursing homes. Malnutrition is associated with functional and cognitive impairment and difficulties eating.
The MNA R detects risk of malnutrition before severe change in weight or serum proteins occurs. Nutritional intervention: Intervention studies demonstrate that timely intervention can stop weight loss in elderly at risk of malnutrition or undernourished and is associated with improvements in MNA scores.Thesis statement for dissertation writing letter
The MNA can also be used as a follow up assessment tool. Conclusion: The MNA is a screening and assessment tool with a reliable scale and clearly defined thresholds, usable by health care professionals.

The small size of the group made it comfortable and welcoming. No charge for single accommodations is an added plus. Thank you for the itinerary and organisation. While I was excited about visiting Iceland with my family (2 adults and 2 20-something sons), I knew that I was not going to have the time to plan my trip due to my busy spring work schedule. Nordic Visitor made the trip so easy and took care of everything from cars, to hotels and even booking some activities upfront. Upon arrival, we received a beautifully bound personalized itinerary and map marked with a suggested route.
Since it was my first visit to Iceland, I followed many of their suggestions on places to visit, have dinner or do extra activities and was not disappointed.
He went on vacation the two weeks prior to our trip, but introduced me to a colleague who was super helpful in putting together some last minute details. If there is any minor criticism I would have it would be that one of the days involved a particularly long drive and felt a big rushed. Because of my delightful experience with Nordic Visitor, I will most definitely use them again. Scandinavia is on my bucket list and I am looking forward to visiting these locations with their help.Controversy over stem cell research essay
It was a spectacular trip. I've wanted to visit Iceland for 20 years, and this trip did not let me down. Now I want to go back and see the Northern Lights. There were so many experiences that felt like a peak experience in my lifeThank you. What a beautiful, vast, diverse country. Nordic Visitor ensured we had all the advice needed to tailor-make the holiday to our exact interests and abilities. We took our two youngest children and they were accounted for in suggestions of things to do and see.
We all had a fantastic time. This is the first time that we have ever used a tour company. Usually we fly somewhere, rent a car, and plan all of our excursions ourselves. We were very impressed with the accommodations, service, and level of professionalism that was shown us. We appreciated having the hotels pre-arranged and each day sketched out for us-it really helped us relax knowing that we knew where we were staying that night and what we were doing the next day.
We did not experience one single hiccup or problem during the entire trip-no missed connections, lost reservations, etc. You guys did a fantastic job. I feel as if we had a much better time in Iceland and saw much more than if we had planned it all ourselves. The Nordic Visitor website is one of the best travel websites out there. It's well organized and easy to use, which is what made my sister and I decide to book with Nordic Visitor. Alexandra always answered our questions in a timely manner and gave us extremely thorough and detailed information.
The travel documents, maps and books that were sent to us and then given to us again upon arrival were excellent and very helpful. All of the hotel bookings and transfers worked out perfectly.
The rental car and cell phone were excellent as well. We're so glad we decided to go with the 4x4. There was a large amount of excursion and activity choices given to us, which were easily added onto our trip by Nordic Visitor.
Every part of the trip that was planned by Nordic Visitor was flawless.Stay alert to possible mental health issues.
